Chicory Tart AKA My Attempt to Like Chicory

This week we got chicory in our veg box.

We got it before, a few months ago and I tried it in raw in a salad.  Oh I really didn't like it.  It's a very bitter taste and even with a honey and mustard dressing I found it too bitter.

So when it arrived this week I looked for some way to cook it to make it less bitter.  What better way than to add pastry and lots of sugar?

I found this chicory tart on the BBC food website Link here for recipe

Doesn't it look tasty, nom nom nom

Here's my version.  Doesn't look quite as nice but not bad for a first tart tatin type attempt

After all that trouble, I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like chicory.  It wasn't too bitter but the flavour just wasn't to my taste.

Oh well, I tried my best and whilst the oven was I made a banana one to use up some over ripe bananas and OMG it was super tasty.  I had to restrain myself not to eat the whole thing so that hubby can have some when he gets home.  There's still 6 hours till he gets back so the struggle is ongoing.

It tastes oh so much better than it looks as the bananas got all swished when I turned it over.

Before it got squished it looked alot better.

What do you do to chicory?  Any recipes that could convince me yet of it's tastiness?  It's still in season so I'm sure I'll get it again before too long.
